Overview

The Supervisory Pipefitter position is a key role within the Facility Management Service at the North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System, responsible for overseeing a team that ensures the optimal functioning of plumbing and mechanical systems in a medical center.

Responsibilities

  • Independently lays out work assignments and delegates tasks to team members based on expertise.
  • Completes administrative tasks such as preparing memos, purchase orders, and maintaining inventory control records.
  • Establishes deadlines and priorities while remaining flexible to redirect workers on unanticipated projects or emergency repairs.
  • Estimates for equipment and facility repairs and prepares and submits documents in the electronic contract management system.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory standards and maintains documentation of inspections and compliance checks.
  • Participates in construction planning meetings and performs quality control inspections.
  • Coordinates the work of all trades under direction to ensure smooth workflow and minimize downtime.
  • Effectively plans, coordinates, communicates, and supervises complex maintenance and repair operations.

Requirements

  • Must be physically able to stand, stoop, turn, crouch, and balance in difficult positions.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work in close physical spaces.
  • Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds when necessary.
  • Required to supervise from/on scaffolding, high ladders, or rooftops in inclement weather.
