Overview

This position is for a 2nd Shift Welder-Brazer I at Collins Aerospace, a leader in technologically advanced solutions for the aerospace and defense industry. The role involves performing welding, soldering, and brazing on production and prototype parts while ensuring quality and compliance with specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Understands welding theory.
  • Performs welding, soldering, and brazing on difficult production and prototype instrumentation piece parts.
  • Welds parts that meet drawing expectations.
  • Properly uses shop/hand tools, welding equipment, and other equipment required to complete tasks.
  • Maintains machine tools, welding equipment, and supplies.
  • Maintains knowledge of welding specifications.
  • Performs process inspections and audits.
  • Proficiently uses computer tools such as SAP.
  • Complies with applicable elements of quality systems.
  • Ensures attention to quality while meeting production schedules.
  • Establishes and preserves documented welding procedures.
  • Advises engineering on technical welding aspects of new units and fixtures including setups.
  • Participates in continuous improvement and waste minimization efforts.
  • Achieves certification on multiple welding processes, equipment, and materials.
  • Completes other assembly work as required.
  • Exhibits RTX Leadership Behaviors and Values.
  • Supports and follows all rules/guidelines/standards set by EHS, Quality and CI functions as set by assigned leader and position.
  • Performs other duties as assigned including working extended shifts/overtime as required by the business.

Requirements

  • Typically requires HS Diploma; in the absence of a HS diploma or GED, 2 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Manufacturing weld experience preferred.
  • Manual dexterity to perform tasks associated with assembly and calibration.
  • Previous experience reading, understanding, and working off blueprints.
  • Communication experience with all levels of employees and management.
