Job Description

Overview

Join AMETEK NSI-MI Technologies, a leader in RF measurement innovation, as a Mechanical Technician II. This role involves advanced mechanical and electrical assembly in a project-driven, build-to-order production environment, contributing to high-technology products in aerospace, defense, and wireless industries.

Responsibilities

  • Fasten components or parts together using hand tools, rivet guns, torque wrenches, and welding equipment.
  • Position and align components for assembly using material handling tools and equipment.
  • Analyze assembly blueprints, schematics, and specification manuals.
  • Rework, repair, and replace damaged parts or assemblies.
  • Fasten and install piping, fixtures, or wiring and electrical components to specifications.
  • Inspect and test parts and accessories for leakage, defects, or functionality.
  • Set and verify clearance of parts.
  • Set-up and install large bearings and slewing rings.
  • Verify conformance of parts to stock list and blueprints using measuring instruments.
  • Lay-out, drill, ream, tap, and cut parts for assembly.
  • Remove rough spots and finish surfaces to fit.
  • Clean parts or components using hand tools and power tools.
  • Perform Preventative Maintenance per instructions and update checklists.
  • Examine parts for defects such as breakage and excessive wear.
  • Reassemble equipment after inspections, testing, or repairs.
  • Fabricate panels and structures requiring material cutting, clamping, gluing, lifting, and painting.
  • Work with little or no direct supervision in field installation scenarios.
  • Exercise creative problem solving and good judgement.

Requirements

  • 5 years minimum of machine building/assembly experience or a combination of applicable coursework and job experience.
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Advanced mechanical troubleshooting and basic electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of system level mechanical testing.
  • Knowledge of z-mapping & correction, planar, cylindrical, and spherical alignment.
  • Knowledge of assembly tools and mechanical assembly techniques.
  • Advanced blueprint and schematic reading skills.
  • Accurate record keeping skills.
  • Knowledge of laser alignment methods – spinning/tracker.
  • Base level system operation.
  • Capable of solo or leading a team on system field installations and baseline testing.
  • Forklift, aerial device/elevated platform and rigging certified.
  • Ability to manually lift/move up to 45 pounds.
  • Legal right to work in the U.S. and authorized to access export-controlled information.
