Overview

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Mechanical Technician – Level 4 to join their Space Sector team in Redondo Beach, CA. This role involves working on the assembly, testing, and launch of various spacecraft and payloads, with a strong emphasis on mechanical assembly and operations.

Responsibilities

  • Handle delicate flight hardware using proper ESD and contamination control best practices.
  • Perform mechanical assembly using space flight drawings and process documents.
  • Conduct space flight torque, wire and harness routing, alignments, RF cable installation and bonding operations using various adhesives.
  • Execute assembly tasks using specific process requirements to support daily assignments.
  • Utilize calibrated tools and shelf-life materials to perform assembly operations.
  • Take ownership of hardware and report hardware status daily to floor supervisor or TC.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 6 years additional education and/or related experience.
  • Knowledge and experience with mechanical assembly and operations using blueprints, engineering drawings, or written instructions.
  • Experience using MS office tools and other software.
  • Ability to work in a high bay.
  • Ability to work off hours, rotating shifts, and weekends when needed.
  • Ability to travel, as necessary.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to sit/stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools.

  • This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.
  • The position works a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.
