Overview

SMP Engineering is a specialized product design and manufacturing automation company serving the mil/aero market. They are seeking a Field Service Technician to prepare schematics, fabricate and wire, and test electrical panels for industrial CNC machinery.

Responsibilities

• Prepare or read schematics.
• Fabricate and wire electrical panels, motors, and sensors.
• Test electrical panels for industrial CNC machinery.
• Work alongside electrical and mechanical engineers.
• Dimension and layout back panels and enclosures.
• Mount components to back panels and enclosures.
• Route and bundle wires and cables to meet standards.
• Perform point-to-point wiring of relays, controls, PLC, I/O Modules, VFDs, Interfaces, and Instrumentation.
• Troubleshoot panels to eliminate wiring errors and component malfunctions.
• Maintain red line drawing mark-ups of changes during fabrication.
• Communicate redline changes to Engineer or Team Leader.
• Communicate effectively with team members and management.
• Meet deadlines under pressure.
• Maintain a high standard of quality and attention to detail.
• Route and bend conduit.
• Design and draft schematics.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Experience with dimensioning and layout of back panels and enclosures.
• CNC machine savvy.
• Ability to route and bundle wires and cables neatly.
• Experience with point-to-point wiring of various electrical components.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for electrical panels.
• Effective communication skills with team members and management.
• Ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
• High attention to detail.
