Overview

The Advanced Manufacturing Engineer, Welding & Fabrication will report to the Senior Director of Advanced Manufacturing at Dover, focusing on optimizing Welding and Fabrication processes, ensuring equipment is properly utilized, and leading new equipment transitions into mass production.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and design manufacturing processes for Welding/Fabrication parts.
  • Support and partner with OpCo’s to improve OEE through initiatives.
  • Drive productivity by internalizing spending on new capex and existing equipment.
  • Create a Welding/Fabrication Excellence Playbook.
  • Provide technical development for new technologies in Welding/Fabrication.
  • Assist in the evolution of equipment and perform acceptance evaluations.
  • Identify, recommend, procure, and install machine shop equipment.
  • Support workforce utilization and design layouts for efficiency.
  • Continuously improve and recommend upgrades to maximize asset utilization.
  • Interface with tooling suppliers for proper production tooling.
  • Develop Welding/Fabrication capability in-house.
  • Identify and deploy new Welding/Fabrication methods to improve quality and reduce costs.
  • Utilize lean manufacturing methodology for process development.
  • Perform root cause analyses for non-conformances and deploy corrective actions.
  • Support manufacturing to achieve safety, quality, efficiency, and throughput goals.
  • Apply project management skills to lead capital equipment projects.
  • Investigate equipment performance and identify problems for corrective actions.
  • Write/revise User Requirement Specs, Functional Requirement, Design Specs, and Qualifications.
  • Support Factory and Site Acceptance Tests and validation protocols.
  • Review and approve PFMEA, DFMEA, PPAPs, and SOPs.
  • Utilize continuous improvement methodology to enhance internal processes.
  • Interact constructively across the organization to identify issues.
  • Provide hands-on support for new product and process launches.
  • Handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Travel 75% to manufacturing sites.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in manufacturing engineering with Welding/Fabrication processes.
  • Experience setting up and operating state-of-the-art Welding/Fabrication equipment.
  • Extensive experience in various Welding/Fabrication equipment.
  • Well versed in standard machine shop manufacturing processes and setups.
  • Willing and able to travel 75% from a major US based airport.
  • Strong experience with SolidWorks or another mechanical CAD system.
  • Highly experienced with precision conventional and advanced metrology systems.
  • Strong commitment to safety precautions in design and practice.
  • Strong understanding of Lean concepts.
  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and perform in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong sense of urgency, accountability, and objective orientation.
  • Highly organized and efficient in task approaches.

  • Travel requirement of 75% to manufacturing sites.
