Overview

The Maintenance Mechanic position involves providing maintenance support to ensure the safe and effective operation of equipment and the team. Candidates should have experience with various machinery and systems, and a commitment to safety and teamwork is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Perform troubleshooting and repairs on plant and house equipment.
  • Provide maintenance support for Linkers, stuffers, choppers, mixers, conveyors, smokehouses, packaging machines, dock levelers, and thermal forming packaging machines.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical failures to resolve issues with facility equipment.
  • Educate, develop, and motivate current and new maintenance employees.
  • Monitor and maintain plant utilities, low pressure steam boilers, wastewater, and fire suppression systems.
  • Assist outside contractors with repairs or scheduled preventative maintenance.
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance using CMMS software Mpulse.
  • Respond immediately to breakdowns to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Follow safety policies and practices while upholding company policies and ethical standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor and Maintenance Manager.

Requirements

  • Industrial Maintenance Degree preferred; High School Diploma with sufficient experience will be considered.
  • At least 5 years of maintenance background required.
  • Knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems; Mpulse is a plus.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical experience with packaging and production equipment.
  • Familiarity with welding and safe usage of tools and shop equipment.
  • Experience with PM programs using CMMS software to open and close work orders.
  • Ability to walk, sit, climb, and lift for a minimum of 8 hours per day.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with refrigeration and HVAC systems is a plus.
  • Must have own toolbox and basic hand tools.
  • Willingness to work Saturdays and on rare occasions Sundays.

Additional Information

  • Full-time position on 2nd shift (Monday-Saturday).
  • 8-12 hour shifts as needed.
