Sloan Valve Company is an industry leader in water-efficient solutions, with a culture built on innovation and responsibility. The Metal Fabricator I role involves cutting, grinding, and MIG welding materials according to specifications.

Responsibilities

• Use and operate a variety of hand and power tools.
• Follow and maintain all established safety standards and procedures.
• Communicate inventory issues to lead and/or supervisor.
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with team members.
• Identify and suggest safety, quality, productivity, and cost reduction ideas.
• Cut square tubing, flat stock, and angle iron into correct lengths and dimensions.
• Use brake press and shear to cut and form stainless steel sheets into doors and panels.
• Identify minor production issues and communicate them to lead and/or supervisor.
• Read and interpret production drawings and use fixturing to ensure correct shape.
• Inspect tools and equipment to ensure they are reliable and in safe working condition.
• Fabricate and install stainless steel and laminate doors and panels.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Less than 1 year of experience in welding/fabrication or a diploma/certificate from a reputable welding training technical school.
• Basic math skills.
• Clear, professional, and respectful verbal and written communication.
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and standard operating procedures.
• Ability to safely operate a variety of power tools.
• Familiarity with common steel and other types of materials.
• Pass Basic Weld Test.
• Positive proven attendance, quality, and productivity record.
• Ability to read and use a tape measure, square, level, and other basic hand tools.
