Ignite your career at Builders FirstSource, America’s largest supplier of building materials. The Maintenance Technician III is a senior level position responsible for conducting machine setup, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance service with high efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements.
  • Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical and electrical devices in operation.
  • Remove defective parts by dismantling devices using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools.
  • Determine changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts.
  • Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments using hand tools.
  • Control downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques.
  • Fabricate repair parts using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
  • Maintain equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock and placing orders.
  • Conserve maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed.
  • Provide mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
  • Prepare mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information.
  • Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing technical publications.
  • Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions and needs.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures and regulations.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Perform building, lighting, and plumbing repairs for the facility as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Associate’s degree preferred.
  • 5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Additional Information

  • Must be able to work flexible hours including overtime as needed.
  • May be required to drive to other facilities.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, reach, and stoop.
  • Frequently required to sit.
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance and talk or hear.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
  • Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock.
  • Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and vibration.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
