Overview

BlueScope Coated Products is a leading coil coating company in the United States, specializing in painted metal coils and toll processing services. The Mechanical Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing production equipment, optimizing maintenance costs, and ensuring equipment reliability.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, troubleshoot, repair and/or replace mechanical components in manufacturing equipment.
• Plan, implement and maintain a preventative maintenance program on various production machines.
• Perform routine, emergency, and preventive maintenance.
• Study equipment manuals to develop audit items and preventative maintenance schedule.
• Perform basic welding duties and fabricate fixtures as needed.
• Install or assist in the installation of new equipment.
• Make preventative maintenance checks and inspections as required.
• Evaluate equipment malfunctions to minimize downtime.
• Install, replace, or change machine parts according to production specifications.
• Modify equipment to improve safety, quality, productivity, and reliability.
• Perform tasks in a quality fashion to meet internal customers’ requirements.
• Perform Roll Grinder duties to support coating quality and paint line production.
• Communicate professionally with plant personnel regarding repairs and projects.
• Maintain proper housekeeping for work area, equipment, and tools.
• Engage in cross-functional maintenance training and knowledge sharing.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED; technical degree/certifications preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in an industrial maintenance position.
• Mechanical capability to repair and/or analyze production equipment.
• Knowledge of heavy equipment, overhead crane, and rigging principles.
• Ability to read, interpret and understand blueprints and manuals.
• Proficient communication skills, particularly in explaining mechanical issues.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work.
• Reliability, dependability, and self-motivation.

Additional Information

• The employee may be required to enter areas near moving mechanical parts and hazardous chemicals.
• The noise level in the work environment is moderate and may require hearing protection.
