Overview

Scot Forge is an employee-owned company that manufactures custom open die and rolled ring forgings for demanding applications worldwide. They are seeking a Welder with experience in MIG, TIG, Stick, and other welding techniques for their 2nd shift openings.

Responsibilities

  • Perform manual, automated, and mechanized welding operations (GMAW, GTAW, SMAW, SAW).
  • Work on ferrous and non-ferrous metals per engineering drawings and instructions.
  • Use die penetrant or mag particle to locate any defects.
  • Conduct air arcing to remove material or cracks.
  • Design and build fixtures needed to safely make repairs on product and tooling.
  • Load, light, and unload furnaces.
  • Review shop order blueprints and welding procedures to determine appropriate welding methods and settings.
  • Use tools such as tape measures, calipers, pi tapes, levels, and filet gauges.

Requirements

  • 5 years of relevant welding experience without a welding degree.
  • 1 year experience in metal fabrication.
  • Technical Weld Certificate or Associate’s Degree from accredited school or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to use a respirator for extended periods.
  • Experience with forklifts, grinders, stamping tools, overhead cranes, computers, tool crib machines, and hand tools.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 65 lbs.

What you'll be running

This posting calls for MIG, TIG, and Stick work. MIG (GMAW) feeds a continuous wire electrode through a shielding-gas nozzle. TIG (GTAW) uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode with filler added by hand, giving the operator the most control of any process. It is slow, demanding, and the standard for stainless, aluminum, and anything where the bead has to look as good as it holds.
