VLS Environmental Solutions, LLC is a leader in sustainability solutions with over 1,200 employees across North America. The Repair Field Welder will perform various barge repairs and welding, ensuring safety compliance and quality workmanship.

Responsibilities

  • Perform various barge repairs and welding as determined from inspections.
  • Ensure all employees comply with safety rules, procedures, and regulations.
  • Set welding machine for proper use and weld in all positions.
  • Fit and fabricate materials for cars or special projects.
  • Complete welding on critical jobs such as tank shell material, draft sill, and tank attachments.
  • Weld barge inserts or cracks ensuring compliance with USCG regulations.
  • Supervise and assist in directing employees and workflow.
  • Assist supervisor in training and directing assigned subordinates.
  • Instruct others in welding techniques and safety.
  • Examine welding for bead size and other specifications.
  • Clean or degrease welding joints or workpieces.
  • Repair broken or cracked parts and fill holes.
  • Prepare broken parts for welding by grooving or scarfing surfaces.
  • Chip off excess weld, slag, and spatter.
  • Understand and comply with all safety regulations.
  • Have a basic understanding of USCG regulations and customer requirements.
  • Travel to all Marine locations as needed.
