Overview

IVI RMA North America is seeking a Per-Diem Surgical Center Technician for their Marlton, NJ Surgical Center to assist with weekend and vacation coverage. The technician will handle instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during surgical procedures, anticipating the needs of the surgeon.

Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of surgical scrub processes and instrumentation for gyn and urology procedures.
  • Follows proper sterility, infection control, and safety precautions in the performance of all duties.
  • Assembles supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures.
  • Prepares sterile instrument table.
  • Maintains aseptic techniques and actively monitors situations which could lead to breaches in aseptic technique.
  • Transports patients to and from surgical suite.
  • Assists the surgical team in surgical procedures which includes passing instruments, sponges, and sutures.
  • Gathers equipment for cleaning and sterilization.
  • Orients and mentors new staff members.
  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Graduate of a nationally accredited educational program for surgical technologists and hold a certified surgical technologist credential or has a minimum two years’ experience as a surgical instrument technician prior to January 1, 2015.
  • Current BLS Certification.
  • Previous experience in women's health or reproductive endocrinology and infertility preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience as a surgical technician preferred.
  • Proficient in surgical instrument knowledge and surgical skill.
  • Proficient in computer programs including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
