Overview

At Wabash, Welders perform a variety of tasks in the manufacture of carbon/stainless steel and aluminum products and subassemblies. They are expected to produce high-quality work while upholding production standards and may need to pass qualification and certification tests.

Responsibilities

  • Own and help improve performance in Safety, Quality, and Delivery.
  • Carbon Steel/Aluminum/Stainless Steel MIG and/or TIG weld at a level that meets quality standards.
  • Read engineering prints, weld symbols, and follow specifications.
  • Perform basic operator preventative maintenance for welding related equipment.
  • Maneuver in tight and small spaces.
  • Work at heights of 15-20 ft.
  • Perform additional work assigned by the supervisor or team leader.
  • Wear approved personal protective equipment such as safety shoes, gloves, and safety glasses.
  • Complete assigned duties in accordance with safety policies and practices.

Requirements

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Must pass Weld Tests associated with product line prior to welding in production.
  • Must pass respirator fit test.
  • Basic reading, writing, math & verbal skills.
  • Capable of following and understanding engineering prints, specifications & instructions.

It is slow, demanding, and the standard for stainless, aluminum, and anything where the bead has to look as good as it holds.
