Overview

Hester Fabrication specializes in complex technical fabrication for advanced industries, focusing on high precision weldments. As an Advanced Welder, you will read shop drawings and fabricate welded components using a variety of tools.

Responsibilities

  • Read and understand shop drawings to fabricate welded components.
  • Plan fabrication and develop a work plan/sequence.
  • Perform accurate layout of plates, holes, bends, etc.
  • Use layout tools like scribes, squares, tapes, protractors, and levels.
  • Meet Hester’s welding standards and set up machines for high-quality welds.
  • Estimate fabrication durations and consistently meet goals.
  • Plan and sequence work with the shop manager.

Requirements

  • Advanced MIG welding skills (75%) and TIG welding skills (25%).
  • Expertise in interpreting shop drawings.
  • Ability to perform accurate layouts.
  • Skilled in using various layout tools.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques.

What you'll be running

This posting calls for MIG and TIG work. MIG (GMAW) feeds a continuous wire electrode through a shielding-gas nozzle. TIG (GTAW) uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode with filler added by hand, giving the operator the most control of any process. It is slow, demanding, and the standard for stainless, aluminum, and anything where the bead has to look as good as it holds.
