Overview

The TIG Welder position is a direct hire opportunity located in East Granby, CT, offering a pay rate of $25 - $40/hr based on experience. The role involves working in a manufacturing environment for a renowned provider of aerospace solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare materials for welding; cuts, grinds and cleans metal.
  • Read weld blueprints, engineered drawings, and follow work order requirements.
  • Set up the welding machine for specific materials, thicknesses, and positions using complicated weld fixtures and weld positioner.
  • Dimensionally inspects welds and other characteristics of parts being welded using tools such as calipers, protractors, and gauges.
  • Inspects all parts for proper assembly and cosmetic defects.
  • Work outside department as required.
  • Complete tasks as directed by manufacturing schedules and within standard times.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and wear all Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years of welding experience required.
  • Aerospace manufacturing experience is required.
  • Strong TIG welding experience is required, with demonstrated proficiency in precision aerospace applications.
  • Experience welding thin-gauge materials, particularly material thicknesses ranging from approximately .050" to .090".
  • Hands-on experience welding stainless steel, titanium, and Inconel.
  • Experience supporting aerospace products and/or programs.
  • Certification in GTAW; AWS D17.1; PWA 16 (in any group material) required.
  • Candidates will be required to pass the welding certification tests for current materials used in the shop.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and process blueprints and operation sheets.
  • Capable of using all standard bench tools and gauges required for setup, inspection, and welding of assemblies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office tools.
