Overview

The Fitter/Welder Level II position involves reading blueprints, fitting and overseeing welding tasks, and ensuring customer and schedule requirements are met. The role requires strong leadership skills and the ability to solve obstacles related to the job while maintaining safety and productivity standards.

Responsibilities

  • Read blueprints.
  • Supervise a crew and complete a job from start to finish without direct supervision.
  • Expedite all parts throughout the plant as necessary to meet production goals.
  • Solve all obstacles related to the job being run.
  • Take ownership for meeting customer and schedule requirements.
  • Exemplify principles of unity, trust, honesty, integrity, creativity, and self-reliance.

Requirements

  • High School education or GED preferred.
  • Four years of shop or field welding experience.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and weld symbols.
  • Pass basic plate weld test within specified time requirements.
  • Knowledge of various welding processes including F.C.A.W., G.M.A.W., and G.T.A.W.
  • Ability to calculate Arc length, circumference, Bolt Circles, Chord Length, and Flat Pattern.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to resolve problems and make effective decisions under pressure.
  • Must maintain an acceptable attendance and safety record.

  • Requires lifting, stooping, bending, and stretching.
  • Ability to work at different heights.
  • Requires correctable vision to perform tasks.
  • Must be available and willing to travel as necessary.
  • Works in a typical fabrication shop environment.
  • May be called upon to work overtime.
