Overview

Austin Industrial is an industry leader in maintenance, construction, and soft craft services, providing solutions to industrial companies across the U.S. The Pipefitter will be responsible for laying out, assembling, installing, and maintaining pipe systems and related equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Cut, thread, and hammer pipe to specifications using tools such as saws, cutting torches, and pipe threaders and benders.
  • Attach pipes to walls, structures, and fixtures using brackets, clamps, tools, or welding equipment.
  • Measure and mark pipes for cutting and threading.
  • Plan pipe system layout, installation, or repair according to specifications.
  • Select pipe sizes and types and related materials according to specifications.
  • Modify, clean, and maintain pipe systems, units, fittings, and related machines and equipment.
  • Install automatic controls used to regulate pipe systems.
  • Turn valves to shut off steam, water, or other gases or liquids from pipe sections.
  • Remove and replace worn components.
  • Inspect work sites for obstructions and structural weaknesses.
  • Operate motorized pumps to remove water from flooded areas.
  • Dip nonferrous piping materials in a mixture of molten tin and lead to prevent erosion.

Requirements

  • No minimum education requirements.
  • NCCER, TWIC, and DL certifications required.
  • 3-5 years of Journeyman level experience.
