Overview

The Ironworker I position involves constructing iron and steel structures according to specifications. Candidates must have significant experience and the ability to work at heights, along with the necessary tools and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Read blueprints and specifications to determine the scope of work.
  • Identify all tools required for tasks.
  • Identify safety risks and precautions to eliminate those risks.
  • Fabricate equipment according to blueprints or supervisor instructions.
  • Hoist equipment and tools into location via bull rigging or crane.
  • Verify vertical and horizontal alignment of structural-steel members.
  • Connect columns, beams, and girders with bolts according to blueprints.
  • Bolt aligned structural-steel members in position for permanent riveting or bolting.
  • Pull, push, or pry iron/steel equipment into position for bolting.
  • Cut, bend, and weld iron/steel pieces using various tools.

Requirements

  • Must have 4+ years experience as an Iron-worker Helper or Structural Iron-worker.
  • Must possess all Knowledge Skills and Abilities for the position.
  • Must be able to meet all physical requirements.
  • Must be able to work at heights in excess of 300 ft.
  • Must have all required tools.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • NCCER - Industrial Ironworker certification required.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
