Overview

The Piping Stress Engineer 3 position at Sargent & Lundy involves providing technical support for piping engineering projects, focusing on evaluations in accordance with various ASME codes. Responsibilities

  • Prepares complex calculations and reviews simple calculations.
  • Reviews simple system/structural designs.
  • Prepares documented design input for drawing production under supervision.
  • Prepares specifications for balance of plant equipment.
  • Prepares bid evaluations for components and calculations for economic evaluations.
  • Prepares simple reports and studies.
  • Provides input to project budgets, schedules, and work plans.
  • Monitors own work to ensure completion within budget and schedule.
  • Uses effective communication skills to convey information clearly.
  • Communicates with vendors through complete specifications.
  • Applies accepted standards and processes to project tasks.
  • Completes work assignments within established schedules.
  • May mentor entry-level engineers.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Aerospace, or Structural/Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 3 or more years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of ASME B31.1 and ASME B&PV Section III piping codes.
  • Knowledge of design, selection, and application of pipe supporting elements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
