Overview

WSP is seeking a Process Piping Designer to join their team in Greenville, SC, as part of their Power Generation Team. The role involves developing process piping models and collaborating with engineers to ensure design quality and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop process piping models and equipment arrangements with minimal direction.
  • Perform field verification on established sites and construction sites.
  • Use 3D CADD software to prepare precise drawings for moderate to large-scale projects.
  • Provide technical design assistance and guidance following standard practices.
  • Act as a consultant for work progress and problem resolution.
  • Lead tasks and Drafting/Design Support staff on technical assignments.
  • Prepare multiple versions of designs for engineer review.
  • Monitor drafting and design plans for quality control and compliance.
  • Collaborate with engineers and technical professionals on project phases.
  • Apply analytical techniques to solve complex engineering issues.
  • Engage with clients and contractors for project coordination.
  • Attend pre-construction meetings to address contractor questions.
  • Provide guidance and training to entry-level staff.
  • Stay current with drafting and design support knowledge and practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a closely related discipline or 10+ years of equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of relevant design/drafting experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
  • High-level experience with public and private sector work.
  • 3D modeling design experience using Hexagon CADWorx or Hexagon Smartplant.
  • Coordination model experience with Navisworks.
  • Proficient in drafting and design support principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes, regulations, and compliance practices.
  • Demonstrated technical competence in leading and reviewing technical computations.
  • Ability to work independently and provide leadership to team members.
  • Experience in preparing technical deliverables with high complexity.
  • Strong proficiency in coordinating with clients and technical staff.
  • Excellent self-leadership and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in technical writing and office automation tools.
  • Extensive critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety policies.
  • Flexibility to adapt to various schedules and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
