Overview

The Structural Welder position at Austin Industrial in Baytown, TX involves joining steel components or metal plates using various welding techniques and following blueprints or instructions. The role requires physical strength and skill to perform welding tasks safely and effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Use various welding processes including Gas-Metal Arc, Flux-Cored Arc, Gas-Tungsten Arc, Submerged Arc, and Shielded Metal Arc.
  • Unite pipes from torch to tanks of oxygen and fuel gas and adjust valves to release the mixture.
  • Reach expected temperature, size, and color of flame by burning torch and adjusting gas and air flow.
  • Preheat work pieces for welding or curving using a torch.
  • Fill holes or correct mistakes in lead pieces and make bulges thin and curves in metal work pieces.
  • Manually apply filler rod to supply weld metal and clean or degrease weld joints or workplaces.
  • Remove excess weld, defective weld material, slag, and spatter using various tools.
  • Climb ladders or work on scaffolds to take apart textures.
  • Choose the place of weld based on type, thickness, area, and expected temperature of metal.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of Journeyman level experience.
  • Applicants must be legally able to work for any employer in the United States.
  • Valid Driver's License is required.
