Overview

5K Power is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to support the engineering, design, fabrication, transportation, lifting, installation, and field deployment of engineered power equipment and prefabricated electrical systems. This role focuses on the structural design and analysis of fabricated steel and metal assemblies, ensuring that products are structurally sound and capable of safe deployment in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural analysis and connection design for steel and metal assemblies.
  • Design structural frames and skids for various power systems.
  • Analyze loads from heavy electrical equipment.
  • Determine structural member sizes and material specifications.
  • Design engineered lifting points and rigging solutions.
  • Calculate center of gravity and load distribution for lifting.
  • Develop lifting and rigging diagrams with safe working loads.
  • Evaluate dynamic forces for transportation and support conditions.
  • Apply Design for Manufacturability principles to optimize designs.
  • Work with fabricators to define welding requirements and modifications.
  • Collaborate with the VDC/BIM team for fabrication-ready models.
  • Build a standardized Structural Engineering Library for manufacturing.
  • Develop structural calculations, BOMs, and material specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards.
  • Establish quality control checkpoints and lead root-cause analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; PE license preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in structural steel design and analysis.
  • Ability to calculate lifting loads and structural reactions.
  • Strong understanding of welding and steel fabrication.
  • Effective communication skills across engineering and fabrication teams.
