Overview

AECOM is seeking a Structural Engineer III - Ports and Marine to join their team in Houston, TX. The role involves undertaking design and planning activities on maritime projects, contributing to the development of infrastructure that positively impacts communities.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake design and planning activities on maritime projects.
  • Conduct maritime design and planning according to maritime codes and standards.
  • Perform structural design for wharves, piles, sheet piles, and dolphins.
  • Independently prepare engineering calculations and develop specifications.
  • Gather and correlate basic engineering data using established procedures.
  • Work on detailed engineering assignments involving calculations and tests.
  • Propose solutions to new problems using modifications of standard procedures.
  • Identify discrepancies in results.
  • Provide guidance to entry-level engineers.
  • Complete primary design elements for engineering works with little supervision.
  • Perform occasional site visits as required by project needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field.
  • 4 years of relevant experience or equivalent education and experience.
  • Valid Driver’s license.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License.
  • Master of Science with structural engineering concentration preferred.
  • Ten years or more of related experience preferred.
  • Experience in the design of marine structures in seismic zones preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of computer analysis and design software such as SAP 2000, RISA 3D, STAAD.Pro, LPILE, SAFE.
  • Knowledge in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
  • Proficient in using computers for engineering calculations and report writing.
  • Demonstrable interest in developing a career in Ports & Marine Engineering.
