Responsibilities

• Prepare the interior or exterior surface of tank or hopper cars for coating or lining by removing contaminants.
• Use safety approved air gun to remove grit and dust after blasting.
• Remove weld spatter, laminations, and sharp edges from inside tank/hopper cars by grinding.
• Vacuum the complete interior of tank/hopper cars.
• Foil and tape all stainless steel inside tank cars as required.
• Maintain equipment and replenish the shot supply.
• Select coatings following work specifications and prepare equipment for spraying.
• Mask off components not to be sprayed.
• Mix coatings according to specifications and apply using airless spray equipment.
• Clean and maintain spraying equipment.
• Apply piping after coating and monitor bake temperature per specifications.
• Maintain and store records of baking operations.
• Apply decals as required to the tank or hopper car exterior.
• Clean completed interior coating prior to final inspection.
• Maintain work area in a neat and orderly manner and report potential hazards.

Requirements

• Must be authorized to work in the US now and in the future without sponsorship.
• Must provide proof of High School education or GED.
• Demonstrate job-related computational knowledge.
• Must have good manual dexterity to operate equipment.
• Comfortable with confined entry and ability to fit inside 18-20" diameter.
