Overview

The Pipefitter 3/C position at Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. involves assisting in the assembly, installation, and testing of various piping systems according to industry standards. This role requires collaboration with other crafts and adherence to safety and environmental regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist other pipefitters in assembly, installation, and pipe testing.
  • Maintain regular attendance and work flexible hours, including overtime.
  • Comply with safety, ethics, and environmental regulations.
  • Select specified types and sizes of pipes, fittings, and valves.
  • Assist in the installation and verification of high-pressure steel pipes.
  • Repair and replace damaged pipes and install metal fittings.
  • Measure, cut, assemble, tack weld, and install pipes.
  • Assist in testing installed piping systems.
  • Work under general supervision.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalence plus one year of pipefitting/plumbing experience desired.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Working knowledge of standard pipe craft formulas, materials, and drawings.
  • Knowledge of equipment and techniques used in measuring, fitting, and tack welding steel.
  • Must pass SMAW Tack welding test to become ABS certified.
  • Knowledge of ship terminology and OSHA standards.
  • Ability to read and comprehend written, oral, or diagram forms.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Knowledge of safe operation and use of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations.
  • Ability to read a tape measure and use a cutting torch.
