Overview

Austin Industrial is a leading provider of self-perform maintenance, construction, and soft craft services to industrial companies across the U.S. The Combination Welder role involves joining metal parts using various welding techniques as specified by blueprints and work orders.

Responsibilities

  • Use welding equipment to weld or tack weld pieces together.
  • Unite pipes from torch to tanks of oxygen and fuel gas and adjust the mixture.
  • Preheat work pieces using a torch for welding preparation.
  • Fill holes or correct mistakes in metal work pieces.
  • Check the weakness of work pieces and measure them to ensure specifications.
  • Climb ladders or work on scaffolds to disassemble textures.
  • Signal crane operators to lift large work pieces.
  • Use thermal-cutting equipment to cut scrap metal.
  • Use tools to place and protect work pieces.
  • Choose welding locations based on metal type and thickness.
  • Instruct and manipulate flames or electrodes on work pieces.
  • Join pieces together and add metal to develop parts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • No minimum education requirements.
  • 4 years of Journeyman level experience.
  • Weld Test certification.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • TWIC Card.

Additional Information

  • Employees must be able to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Work may be performed in industrial and construction environments with exposure to various hazards.
