Overview

The Safety Valve Technician role at Baker Hughes involves precision assembly, testing, and repair of critical valve equipment, focusing on Pressure Relief Valves, Safety Valves, and Control Valves. The technician will collaborate with various teams to ensure compliance with industry standards and customer requirements, contributing to operational excellence and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble complex valve components and assemblies according to specifications.
  • Perform functional, pressure, and performance testing on various valves.
  • Operate and maintain testing equipment in compliance with standards.
  • Calibrate tools and maintain assembly equipment.
  • Perform precision torquing of valve components to specifications.
  • Read and interpret assembly blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues during assembly and testing.
  • Complete lapping and seat restoration activities.
  • Utilize lapping compounds and equipment to achieve sealing surfaces.
  • Support Quality Notifications and corrective actions.
  • Safely operate cranes, hoists, and other shop equipment.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment.
  • Perform Stainless Steel Tubing Bending and ensure tubing integrity.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree preferred or equivalent technical education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in valve assembly, repair, or testing.
  • Hands-on experience with Pressure Relief Valves, Safety Relief Valves, and Control Valves.
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments and calibration tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and assembly documentation.
  • Experience operating pressure testing and valve diagnostic equipment.
  • Hands-on experience with Stainless Steel Tubing Bending.
