Responsibilities

  • Make repairs, replacements, adjustments, inspections, troubleshoot, and perform preventative maintenance on all mechanical equipment.
  • Conduct general mechanical maintenance on various equipment such as pumps, cranes, hoists, hydraulic systems, vacuum pumps, and basic vehicle repairs.
  • Dismantle devices to access and remove defective parts, examining for imperfections.
  • Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments.
  • Observe mechanical devices in operation and listen to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
  • Operate all types of conventional power tools.
  • Lubricate, clean, and paint equipment.
  • Set up and operate lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
  • Drive forklifts, aerial boom lifts, scissors lifts, and small trucks.
  • Operate company vehicle as needed to transport parts, equipment, materials, and supplies.
  • Repair electrical equipment and run conduit.
  • Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
  • Start devices to test their performance.
  • Install special functional and structural parts in devices.
  • Perform arc, gas, TIG/MIG welding.
  • Install new equipment.
  • Layout jobs and comply with bill of material.
  • Assist in training new employees and trainees.

Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of mechanical and facilities repair and maintenance.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and verbally communicate documents such as safety rules and maintenance instructions.
  • Ability to read and understand complicated blueprints and specifications.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Must be able to work independently and follow detailed, written instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must be able to install, maintain, diagnose and correct problems on complicated machinery and specialized plant equipment.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
  • Basic standard tools for this trade required to be supplied by individual.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Software such as ability to email and search internet for parts and repair methods.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a relevant trade school program or vocational training preferred.
  • Ten years’ experience in machine tool field.
  • Experience in hydraulics, ability to read schematics, hydraulic and electrical.
  • 5 years of successful related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
