Job Description

Overview

The City of Phoenix Water Services Department is seeking multiple Industrial Maintenance Mechanics for its Wastewater Treatment division. These positions involve the installation, repair, and maintenance of mechanical equipment at various water and wastewater treatment facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and perform journey-level installation, repair, and maintenance of mechanical equipment.
  • Work with pumps, blowers, centrifuges, gearboxes, valves, and valve actuators.
  • Perform tasks independently and as part of a team, sometimes leading the team.
  • Move objects weighing 50 pounds.
  • Work in confined spaces and at heights greater than 10 feet.
  • Work in various weather conditions with exposure to outdoor elements.
  • Work irregular hours, shifts, weekends, holidays, and evenings.

Requirements

  • Four years of skilled experience in mechanical maintenance and repair work, including one year in a lead capacity.
  • Experience in fabrication, installation, and repair of large mechanical equipment.
  • Possession of a Class A Commercial Driver License Instructional Permit at the time of hire.
  • Possession of a Class A Commercial Driver License after 12 months in the classification.
  • Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) Grade 1 certification by end of the probationary period.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.
  • Must be physically capable of operating vehicles safely and possess a valid driver's license.
