Overview

The City of Dallas is seeking an Industrial Mechanic to perform skilled maintenance tasks on various industrial equipment and vehicles. This role offers competitive benefits and opportunities for growth within a vibrant work culture.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnoses and determines equipment failures, ensuring professional repairs are completed.
  • Inspects and tests completed work to ensure repairs meet standards.
  • Researches and orders parts for repairs, maintaining records and inventory.
  • Demonstrates proper work methods and safety procedures to other mechanics.
  • Inspects and executes repair and installation of various plant equipment.
  • Performs major and minor repairs on machinery and mechanical equipment.
  • Changes belts, oil, filters, and troubleshoots mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Serves as lead worker over lower level mechanics.
  • Performs any other assigned work as needed.

Requirements

  • Four years of experience performing preventative maintenance on mechanical, electrical, HVAC, or heavy plant equipment.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL) required for Distribution positions.
  • Thorough knowledge of mechanical systems and maintenance principles.
  • Skill in using appropriate hand tools and repair techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret manufacturer’s manuals.
  • Ability to analyze and diagnose problems.
  • Ability to operate computer diagnostic equipment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
