Overview

The Quality Inspector is responsible for performing inspections to ensure that materials, components, welding, painting, and finished machines comply with company standards, engineering drawings, and customer specifications. The role requires interpreting technical drawings, performing various inspections, managing nonconformities, and ensuring compliance with ISO standards.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and review technical drawings in inch and metric systems.
• Perform dimensional inspections using precision measuring instruments.
• Ensure compliance with tolerances and geometric requirements.
• Verify calibration status of inspection tools before use.
• Develop and utilize specific dimensional inspection forms/templates.
• Ensure dimensional reports are accurate and properly maintained.
• Communicate dimensional deviations to Engineering and Production.
• Perform visual inspection of welds in accordance with applicable codes.
• Verify weld size, profile, workmanship, and surface condition.
• Conduct Dye Penetrant Testing as required.
• Inspect surface preparation and painting quality.
• Open, document, and close Nonconformance Reports.
• Document findings and objective evidence for nonconformities.
• Ensure nonconforming products are identified and controlled.
• Support root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
• Monitor NCR status and ensure timely resolution.
• Control calibration of measurement tools and records.
• Follow company procedures, quality standards, and safety requirements.
• Support implementation and sustainment of 5S initiatives.
• Proactively suggest process improvements.

Requirements

• Technical education in Quality, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or equivalent experience.
• 3-5 years minimum experience in Quality inspection within machining, fabrication, or manufacturing environments.
• Ability to interpret mechanical drawings in both inch and metric systems.
• Strong knowledge of precision measuring instruments.
• Knowledge of welding inspection practices.
• Understanding of calibration systems and traceability.
• Knowledge of 5S methodology.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management systems preferred.
