Overview

The Welder is responsible for various types of welding including Mig, Tig, and Stick. This position requires examining work pieces for defects, fabricating and repairing rigging, and operating mechanized equipment.

Responsibilities

• Examine work pieces for defects and measure them to ensure conformance with specifications.
• Fabricate, set up, and repair rigging, supporting structures, hoists, and pulling gear using hand and power tools.
• Dismantle and store rigging equipment after use.
• Operate vehicles and mechanized devices such as forklifts.
• Control machines and processes using control mechanisms or direct physical activity.
• Read blueprints and use measuring tools like tape measures and levels.
• Select gear such as cables and pulleys according to load weights and sizes.
• Control movement of heavy equipment through narrow openings or confined spaces.
• Tilt, dip, and turn suspended loads using multi-point suspension techniques.
• Install ground rigging for yarding lines and attach chokers to logs.
• Align, level, and anchor machinery.
• Manipulate rigging lines, hoists, and pulling gear to move or support heavy materials.
• Attach pulleys and blocks to fixed overhead structures using bolts and clamps.

Requirements

• HS Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Minimum three years welding experience.
• Minimum three years construction industry experience.
• Ability to use precision measuring tools and equipment.
• Welding certification preferred.
• Carpentry experience preferred.

Additional Information

• Work schedule is 7:00am-3:30pm Monday-Friday.
