Overview

Alkegen is a leader in specialty materials focused on battery technologies, filtration media, and specialty insulation and sealing materials. The Maintenance Technician position is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing equipment to ensure production readiness.

Responsibilities

• Conduct a daily check of the physical plant at the beginning of each shift.
• Meet with Maintenance Supervisor to receive daily work orders and instructions.
• Respond to maintenance calls to production lines and auxiliary equipment.
• Provide mechanical repairs as needed or assist with outside contractors.
• Rig and install equipment to completion.
• Prepare and install piping systems as directed.
• Weld and fabricate completed projects, repairs, or installations.
• Rebuild and repair used machinery for production.
• Conduct various checks of equipment such as silos, chillers, and HVAC systems.
• Perform mechanical PMs as per schedule.
• Routinely grease bearings and couplings.
• Maintain and refill oil reservoirs as necessary.
• Change filters as necessary or per schedule.
• Routinely check belts, chains, and flywheels.
• Complete PM paperwork on a timely basis.
• Provide suggestions to improve operations within the department.
• Keep electrical distribution centers and power panels clean.
• Conduct monthly PMs of electric motors and controls.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical breakdowns.
• Work with vendors and contractors for equipment repair.
• Maintain all lighting throughout the plant.
• Troubleshoot and repair PA system.
• Maintain heating and air conditioning.
• Troubleshoot and repair basic mechanical machinery at an advanced level.
• Understand and troubleshoot circuitry.
• Troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic machinery.
• Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic conveying systems.
• Weld with electric arc stick, Mig, and gas.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical prints.
• Perform pipe fitting and plumbing.
• Use machine tools (lathe, end mill, press) as preferred.
• Understand and troubleshoot HVAC equipment as preferred.
• Attend training as required.
• Work overtime as needed.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalency is required.
• Technical Certificate from an accredited school in Industrial Maintenance is preferred.
• 3-5 years relevant Industrial Maintenance experience, or 5-7 years relevant experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of computers.
• Strong troubleshooting skills.
• Mechanical aptitude.
• Good communication skills.
• Organizational skills.
• Capable of doing multiple tasks.
• Team oriented.

• This is a Night shift opening.
• Shift Timings: 4 PM - 4:00 AM EST.
