Mueller Water Products, Inc. is the nation's leading manufacturer of flow control devices for the water and gas distribution industries, with an immediate opening for a Pre-Apprentice Welder in Kimball, TN. This role involves learning welding and fabrication processes while contributing to the company's mission of ensuring clean drinking water reaches millions of people daily.

Responsibilities

• Complete required training and coursework in accordance with standards set by partnering high school.
• Obtain the ability to read blueprints, understand weld symbols, and follow welding procedures.
• Assist qualified Welders in full-cycle fabrication processes.
• Verify parts match work orders on the Bill of Materials (BOM).
• Maintain specifications by observing welding processes and adhering to quality assurance procedures.
• Develop skills in welding and fabrication.
• Signal issues or irregularities to the appropriate Welder or supervisor.
• Complete production and quality logs as part of documentation.
• Keep the work area clean and organized.
• Adhere to safety procedures and regulations.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in High School Manufacturing Practicum with at least junior standing.
• In good academic standing with hosting high school.
• Registered with the appropriate state entity as a registered Pre-Apprentice.
• Successfully completed school-sponsored OSHA 10 safety certificate.
• At least 16 years of age or older.
• Strong commitment to maintaining safety standards.
• Basic math skills and understanding of measuring concepts.
• Familiarity with basic hand tools and measuring devices.

Additional Information

• Pre-Apprentice will only work during standard business hours of M-F.
• Pre-Apprentices will not work more than 20 hours per week during their defined school term.
• Pre-Apprentices will only operate machinery under direct supervision.
