Overview

The Certified Welder - Utility position involves performing physically demanding manufacturing duties to mass-produce bus components at Daimler Truck North America. The role requires working in a LEAN manufacturing environment and offers competitive pay and benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Perform manufacturing duties including repetitive processes and moderate to heavy lifting.
  • Participate in the assembly process and rotate through tasks in a department.
  • Use hand tools and machinery to complete mechanical, electrical, and structural assemblies on buses.
  • Install and assemble components for buses using computer systems and drawings.
  • Complete tasks as directed by manufacturing schedules with minimum supervision.
  • Weld components in various positions using different welding processes.
  • Monitor welding processes to avoid overheating and material distortion.
  • Examine workpieces for defects and ensure conformance with specifications.
  • Operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade.
  • Inform designated employees of loaded items and problems encountered.

Requirements

  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous work-related skills or experience may be required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, highly disciplined work area.
  • Ability to collaborate with a team and work independently.
  • Knowledge of design techniques and tools involved in production.
  • Ability to see details at close range.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs and maintenance.
