Overview

The End Welder Operator is responsible for welding metal slitted material according to plant policies and procedures, ensuring safe and compliant operations during their shift.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate mill entry, Flatteners, End Welder Machine, and Accumulator.
• Ensure cross weld quality.
• Maintain coil edge condition.
• Remove rough spots from work pieces using grinders, hand files, or scrapers.
• Monitor operation by watching gauges, dials, or indicators.
• Review work orders and specifications to determine materials needed.
• Handle and move materials using hands and arms.
• Inspect equipment and materials to identify errors or defects.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Monitor information to detect or assess problems.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• 1 year experience in welding.
• Knowledge and experience within the OCTG pipe industry is preferable.
• Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.
• Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and hand tools.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, procedures, and welding operations.
• Ability to use hand-welding or flame-cutting equipment.

Additional Information

• Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment.
• Loose-fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted on site.
• Ability to lift 25/50 pounds regularly.
• Ability to respond quickly to sounds.
• Ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
• Ability to see and respond to dangerous situations.
• Ability to safely climb ladders while carrying 40 pounds.
• Ability to work in loud, hot environments/extreme weather while wearing required PPE.
• Ability to see 20-20 when corrected.
• Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
