Overview

The Turbomachinery Repair Engineer will set methods and criteria for customer repair work on various types of rotating equipment, ensuring technical integrity and acting as a liaison for repair projects. The role involves engineering repair solutions and supporting shop modernization projects within the Houston Service Center.

Responsibilities

  • Set methods and criteria for execution of repair work in the shop.
  • Engineer repair solutions and ensure technical integrity of work performed.
  • Provide technical assistance to shop floor regarding tooling and machining practices.
  • Support development and implementation of continuous improvement activities.
  • Review and disposition product non-conformances.
  • Archive engineering job-related records for traceability.
  • Design tooling and fixtures.
  • Prepare work packages detailing process and material specifications.
  • Compile findings and technical data for customer reports.
  • Assist shop floor during repair execution.
  • Support sales engineers during the quotation phase.
  • Execute service engineering assignments requiring independent action.
  • Collaborate with other departments for effective problem-solving.
  • Prepare and approve layout and detail drawings.
  • Review customer specifications and provide comments.
  • Assist in customer witness inspections and tests.
  • Apply engineering principles in developing repair recommendations.
  • Support reverse engineering team for complex products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with rotary equipment repairs.
  • 3+ years of experience in shop engineering or related fields.
  • Familiarity with repair methods such as welding and coating.
  • Basic knowledge of metallurgy, material selection, and heat treatments.
  • Strong knowledge of conventional metrology tools.
  • Advanced skills in 3D modeling and detailing technical drawings.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Good understanding of Environment, Health, and Safety practices.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.

Additional Information

  • Travel requirements should be minimal, with possible weekend travel.
