Overview

The Silk Screen Operator on the 2nd shift is responsible for performing various heated glass tasks under management direction, ensuring quality and safety standards are met while operating machinery and tools.

Responsibilities

• Operates circular saw to cut aluminum extrusion.
• Assembles corner keys and aluminum extrusion to make spacers/frames.
• Keeps production records.
• Inspects the glass and stacks spacers/frames.
• Operates the sealant pump to seal IG units.
• Uses a razor blade to cut apart sealed units.
• Operates caliper to measure units and records measurements.
• Inspects/packs units in a wooden crate.
• Works with Production Supervisor to resolve problems.
• Maintains cleanliness of work cell.
• Inspects glass and raw materials to be laminated.
• Uses hand tools to stack and align glass and laminating materials.
• Reads process parameter sheets for oven operation.
• Operates the oven and removes finished products.
• Operates squeegee sharpener and prepares screens.
• Reads blueprints and inspects materials throughout the process.
• Makes adjustments to screen and machine for specifications.
• Operates drying oven and cleans screens as necessary.
• Reads and understands blueprints for soldering tasks.
• Uses hand tools for soldering and performs quality tests.
• Sets up charcoal filter fan for soldering area.
• Records production and test data for soldering.
• Follows work instructions for copper buss bar tasks.
• Performs tests to ensure conformance to internal standards.
• Gathers components for heated glass assembly.
• Tests finished products and records results.
• Reads blueprints for edge deletion and logo/tape tasks.
• Performs quality tests and other assigned duties.

Requirements

• Good attention to detail to ensure glass meets specifications.
• Completion of primary school education with six months of experience or related training.
• High school diploma or GED strongly desired.
• Trade school certification is helpful.
• Basic understanding of handling paints, sealants, and solvents.
• Strong understanding of safety and environmental procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Ability to understand work instructions and communicate problems.
• Ability to collect production data and complete required forms.
• Ability to perform elementary mathematical operations and understand measuring units.

Additional Information

• Shift hours are 4:15pm - 2:45am, Monday - Thursday, with possible Fridays or Saturdays.
• Overtime is mandatory.
