Overview

The Lead HVAC Mechanic at Clara Maass Medical Center is responsible for overseeing the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC and refrigeration systems, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. This part-time position requires technical expertise and experience in the HVAC field.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems.
  • Assist with large, major repairs and overhaul work.
  • Attend meetings, conferences, workshops, and seminars.
  • Check steam system for proper pressures and make necessary repairs.
  • Adjust and balance air handler systems to ensure proper flow and temperatures.
  • Clean and/or replace air handling filters on a scheduled basis.
  • Inspect, check, and maintain heating and air conditioning systems for energy efficiency.
  • Inspect, repair, and balance bearings, shafts, and pulleys on fans, pumps, and motors.
  • Maintain building temperatures using the Graphic Central and Delta 1000 computer energy management system.
  • Maintain proper water treatment conditions for cooling towers and reheat systems.
  • Paint related equipment and surrounding areas.
  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections on HVAC equipment and medical gas systems.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled lubrication of moving parts on all equipment.
  • Perform snow removal duties as conditions dictate.
  • Winterize and protect air conditioning systems from freezing.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Formal training equivalent to a related program in an accredited vocational school.
  • 1-3 years’ experience directly related to the HVAC field.
  • Valid New Jersey Driver’s License.
  • Valid EPA Universal HVAC Certification.
