Overview

The Industrial Maintenance Mechanic performs maintenance to keep plant equipment, machinery, and tools in good operating condition, involving a range of methods to diagnose, repair, and maintain equipment. The role requires troubleshooting mechanical assemblies and performing preventative maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Works from drawings, sketches, and manuals to install, adjust, and repair equipment.
• Positions, fits, and welds components to assemble machinery and structural forms according to blueprints.
• Troubleshoots and services pumps, gear boxes, motors, cranes, and hydraulic systems.
• Inspects plant machines and equipment for preventative maintenance purposes.
• Repairs, installs, and assembles simple equipment parts and components.
• Cuts, bends, and threads conduit, pipe, and tubing.
• Maintains records of work performed and material usage.
• Operates mobile equipment to lift and transport materials.
• Ensures daily preventative maintenance is performed on vehicles and mobile equipment.
• Follows PPE requirements and safety guidelines.
• Assists in training coworkers as needed.
• Maintains communication with coworkers through two-way radio and hand signals.
• Works as part of a self-directed team with limited supervision.
• Maintains work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
• Engages in GBS tools and methodology.
• Assists maintenance personnel as needed.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• AAS in industrial maintenance and maintenance reliability certifications are preferred.
• Verifiable maintenance technical training.
• Understanding of shop mathematics and use of precision measuring instruments.
• 3 to 5 years of heavy industrial mechanical maintenance experience.
• Advanced knowledge of AC/DC motors, gear box mechanics, lubrication principles, welding, and common maintenance hand tools.
• Intermediate knowledge of pumps, gearboxes, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, and rigging principles.
• Experience aligning equipment using laser and/or dial indicators.

Additional Information

• Ability to work a rotating shift schedule including days, nights, and weekends.
• Ability to tolerate working in areas where noise levels can reach 120 decibels.
