Overview

Rhoads Industries, a family-owned company since 1896, provides industrial fabrication, mechanical/maintenance, and maritime services. They are looking for Structural Welders to join their skilled team in delivering exceptional products and services across various markets.

Responsibilities

  • Read and understand work packages, drawings, and blueprints.
  • Layout, position, align and secure parts and assemblies according to specifications.
  • Perform welding using the GMAW welding processes.
  • Work within assigned group to move and position work pieces using overhead cranes.
  • Operate hand and power tools such as magnetic drills, grinders, cutting torches, and automated welding tractors.
  • Inspect own work to ensure it meets product specifications and is compliant before presented to QA.
  • Inspect equipment to maintain functionality and report any malfunctions.
  • Set-up and operate machinery to support fabrication such as punching, shearing, cutting, and drilling.
  • Assist in the fabrication of multi-component fabrications.
  • Be dispatched to other buildings within the Navy Yard and possibly other job sites when requested.
  • Work various shifts, including overtime and weekends.

Requirements

  • High school graduate with related trade school and experience in the industry required.
  • 5+ years of experience in the fabrication industry.
  • Experience in GMAW (Pulse and Spray) and FCAW welding processes; GTAW is a plus.
  • Must qualify to Plate in the 3-G and 4-G position per AWS D1.1 using the GMAW process.
  • Proven past welding certification history is a plus.
  • US Citizenship required.
  • Understanding of welding symbols and ability to decipher work packages, diagrams, and blueprints.
  • Ability to cut material using cutting torch, plasma torch, track burner, shears, etc.
  • Safety focused and able to work in a team environment.
  • OSHA /10 safety training required, provided by Rhoads; having an up-to-date OSHA/10 is a plus.
  • Experience in MIL work per TP1688 and past qualifications to TP248 in GMAW Pulse and Spray is a plus.

What you'll be running
