Overview

The City of Philadelphia is seeking a Prisons Trades Worker 2 specializing in Electrician, Electronic-Locksmith, and Plumbing & Heating for the City's Prison Department. This role involves full performance level trades work, requiring diagnostic skills to solve complex equipment problems while supervising inmates.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and maintain electrical systems including switchgear, transformers, and motors.
  • Repair and replace malfunctioning electronic lock devices.
  • Identify and resolve plumbing and heating equipment issues.
  • Instruct inmates in trade elements while ensuring their custody.
  • Perform guard duties as required.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Four years of experience in the area of specialization as a helper or apprentice.
  • Possession of a valid electrical contractor’s license for Electrician specialty.
  • Completion of an approved training course in maintenance and repair of electronic locking devices for Electronic-Locksmith specialty.
  • Possession of a Journeyman Plumber's license for Plumbing & Heating specialty.
