Overview

Cox Fleet, headquartered in Indianapolis, is one of the largest fleet maintenance companies in the country, providing on-site mobile maintenance and repair services for light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks and trailers. They are currently hiring a Sr. Shop Trailer Mechanic for a dedicated on-site shop position responsible for performing various inspections and repairs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform certified DOT inspections and preventative maintenance inspections.
  • Conduct light and advanced repairs on trailer systems.
  • Determine parts required for each job and interact with the Shop Parts Department.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Work with Service Writer to assess customer needs and resolve issues.
  • Document work performed and findings on Repair Orders using company devices.
  • Communicate with Shop Manager regarding repair estimates and findings.
  • Perform minor adjustments and repairs on trailer equipment and systems.
  • Assist Shop Trailer Technician I/II with diagnostics and obtaining correct parts.
  • Perform advanced diagnostics and triage of complicated repairs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED and 5 years' experience in a related field.
  • 3 years of reefer experience.
  • Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary for the job.
  • OEM training and certifications preferred.
  • Must pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical.
  • Must be at least 21 years old due to interstate commerce regulations.
  • Valid driver's license required.
