Overview

KBR supports the operational needs of U.S. armed forces at Morón Air Base in Spain and several bases in Turkey, providing essential services to ensure smooth operations. The War Reserve Material (WRM) Corrosion Control Specialist / Welder will play a crucial role in maintaining the structural integrity of ground support equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect AGE, MMHE, and related support equipment for corrosion and structural damage.
  • Perform surface preparation including masking, chemical stripping, and mechanical sanding.
  • Mix and apply chemical conversion coatings, primers, and topcoats using HVLP spray systems.
  • Design, fabricate, and apply stencils, decals, and safety markings per military specifications.
  • Perform structural repairs and fabricate metal components using various metals.
  • Operate and maintain welding equipment for TIG, MIG, ARC, and oxyacetylene processes.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints for manufacturing or repair tasks.
  • Safely handle and dispose of Hazardous Materials in coordination with environmental protocols.
  • Maintain the paint booth, blasting equipment, and welding shop for safety compliance.
  • Document all maintenance, painting, and welding actions in ELMS and IMDS.
  • Assist AGE Mechanics with general equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Wear required PPE and work in confined spaces or paint booths.
  • Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs unassisted regularly.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of four years of experience in corrosion control and structural welding.
  • Proficiency in multiple welding processes (MIG, TIG, Stick) and industrial painting techniques.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and hold an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance.

What you'll be running

This posting calls for MIG and TIG work. MIG (GMAW) feeds a continuous wire electrode through a shielding-gas nozzle. TIG (GTAW) uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode with filler added by hand, giving the operator the most control of any process. It is slow, demanding, and the standard for stainless, aluminum, and anything where the bead has to look as good as it holds.
