Overview

The Rotor Shop Machinist position involves precision machining and supporting the repair and maintenance of complex rotating equipment. The role requires hands-on work in a machine shop environment, ensuring accuracy, quality, and compliance with safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Performing machining operations in accordance with specifications and quality standards.
  • Applying Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles during setup and machining activities.
  • Calculating and setting machining parameters, including speed, feed rates, coolant flow, depth of cut, and cutting angles.
  • Operating and adjusting machine controls to achieve accurate machining results.
  • Entering, retrieving, and editing computerized machine control data when required.
  • Conducting routine inspections to ensure equipment performance and product quality.
  • Following Baker Hughes HSE policies, quality standards, and operational procedures at all times.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 4+ years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with rotor manual machining, especially with gas turbine rotor machines.
  • Demonstrated intermediate skill level in Aligning, Runouts, Turning, and Grinding on at least two of three machines: Manual Lathe and VTLs.
  • Experience supporting Rotor shop and Machine shop based on customer needs.
  • Ability to operate manual lathe for rotor lathe work.
  • Experience in Gas turbine repair (HSPT, GE10's, Fr3, Fr5, Fr6, and F7) Rotors and component machining is a big plus.

  • 2nd Shift: 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM (Overtime and weekend work available)
  • 3rd Shift: 10:00 PM – 6:30 AM (Overtime and weekend work available)
  • This position requires valid work authorization in the country of employment.
