Overview

The NPD Machinist III is a senior-level machining specialist responsible for supporting New Product Development initiatives through advanced machining, prototyping, and process optimization. This role requires expert-level skill in operating CNC and manual machines, interpreting complex engineering drawings, and collaborating closely with engineering, R&D, and manufacturing teams.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all engineering instruction, standard operation procedures, and departmental procedures.
  • Perform machine set ups on manual lathes, manual mills, CNC lathes, and CNC mills for all programs and part types with light to no assistance.
  • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on machines as required per the company P.M. Program.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and drawings for all processes and programs.
  • Provide mentorship, troubleshooting expertise, and recommendations for tooling, materials, and process improvements.
  • Achieve and maintain precision tolerances of up to 0.0005 inches on metal and steel components during machining operations.
  • Be respectful, courteous, and friendly to customers and GP&C employees.
  • Participate as an integral part of the GP&C team.
  • Accept accountability for personal actions and positively represent GP&C.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 8+ years’ experience working with Manual and/or CNC machines.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Regularly required to stand, reach, and move about the facility.
  • Must have math skills and be able to use handheld measuring tools.
  • Thorough knowledge of CNC programming/languages (G/M Codes and Mazatrol).
  • Thorough knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances.
