Overview

BAE Systems is seeking motivated entry-level Welders for their Submarine program at the Jacksonville Maritime Solutions shipyard. The role involves fabrication and welding tasks on submarine manufacturing, contributing to important national security challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Welding on a wide variety of materials using various weld processes.
  • Welding structural assemblies using GMAW and SMAW during submarine construction.
  • Participating in continuous training in traditional and new welding processes.
  • Using pneumatic tools such as grinders and wire brushes.
  • Performing oxy/fuel pre-heat and carbon/arc gouging.
  • Reading and interpreting weld symbols, technique sheets, and work packages.
  • Completing additional tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be a graduate or current student of Hobart Institute of Welding Technology.
  • MIG Welding experience or training.
  • Structural welding experience.
  • Experience from vocational, technical, or community colleges or apprentice programs.
  • Experience working in the construction industry or a manufacturing environment.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Ability to interpret welding and shipyard procedures, structural drawings, and technical manuals.
  • Ability to complete technical requirements outlined in NAVSEA mil std 1688.
  • Access to a controlled site with additional clearance requirements.
