Job Description

Overview

At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We are seeking early career Structural & Mechanical Engineers to join our team, where you will contribute to the development of reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the entire design cycle, including requirements derivation, conceptual and detailed design, system performance modeling, structural analysis, manufacturing and integration support, development testing and qualification.
  • Participate in the assembly and test of development and flight hardware including planning, execution, data reduction and analysis.
  • Assist in the identification and implementation of design changes to improve system reliability and reduce operational cost.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a BS Degree in mechanical engineering or aerospace engineering, or other relevant engineering field.
  • Will have earned their degree within the last year and able to start by Fall 2027.
  • Basic understanding in the fundamentals of design including requirements identification, material selection, input definition, form factors, interface definition, environmental considerations.
  • Basic proficiency in 3D CAD programs including drawing creation.
  • Basic proficiency in strength and mechanics of materials.
  • Basic proficiency in structural analysis including Free-body diagrams, hand calculations.
  • Basic understanding of Finite Element Analysis.
  • Relevant internship/co-op and/or hands-on experience that demonstrate development of both technical skills as well as leadership qualities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team on rapid development programs.
  • Flexible and adaptable mindset.
  • Self-driven with the ability to seek out requirements with minimal direction.
