Overview

CesiumAstro is a developer of innovative communication systems for space and airborne platforms, seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their Mechanical Engineering team. The role involves mechanical design for space hardware, particularly in the context of phased array antennas and subsystems.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for mechanical design aspects of phased array antennas and subsystems.
  • Conduct requirements definition, architecture trades, and block diagrams.
  • Perform mechanical analysis, electronics packaging, and thermal architecture.
  • Engage in manufacturing, testing, qualification, and in-orbit support.
  • Present engineering design review materials to customers and the executive team.
  • Participate in proposal-writing efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in space antenna and payload mechanical engineering.
  • Experience in conducting architectural trade studies.
  • Proficient with mechanical and FEA CAD tools, such as Ansys Mechanical and SolidWorks Simulation.
  • Experience with CNC manufacturing and GD&T.
  • Familiarity with advanced aerospace manufacturing and materials.
  • Proficiency in detailed mechanical design including 3D CAD.
  • Experience designing and manufacturing mechanisms and mechanical actuators.
  • Familiarity with EMI/EMC mitigation techniques.
  • Understanding of satellite thermal architectures and orbital thermal control.
